AudioBottle

Privacy Policy

Effective date: 12 July 2026

Summary

AudioBottle is a local-first desktop application: your sessions and audio are processed entirely on your Mac and are never uploaded anywhere. The app talks to the network for two purposes only — keeping the app up to date, and managing your license (activation, validation, deactivation) — both described in full below. This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Who we are

AudioBottle is developed and published by Christophe Darlot (France), the data controller for the processing described in this policy. Contact for any privacy matter: privacy@audiobottle.app.

The automatic update check

When AudioBottle starts, it automatically checks for updates by fetching https://audiobottle.app/appcast/macos.json over HTTPS.

Opting out: you can turn the automatic update check off in AudioBottle's Preferences at any time. With the check turned off, AudioBottle makes no network request at launch.

Legal basis: our legitimate interest in keeping installed software current and secure (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), balanced by the built-in opt-out.

License activation

When you activate a license, the app sends the license key you paste — and nothing else — over HTTPS to our licensing provider and merchant of record, Polar, which validates the key and records the activation against your license's machine allowance. Deactivating a machine, and the occasional re-validation of an activated key, send the same key-only request. The app never asks for, and never transmits, your name or email address.

Purchases themselves are handled by Polar as merchant of record under Polar's own privacy policy; AudioBottle receives no payment details.

Legal basis: performance of the license contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Your audio stays local

Archiving, verification and restoring all run on your machine. AudioBottle never uploads, indexes or inspects your sessions remotely, and no content-derived data ever leaves your Mac.

This website

audiobottle.app is a static site served by Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, embeds no third-party trackers, and runs no analytics scripts. Cloudflare, as our hosting provider, processes standard server logs (including IP addresses) transiently for security and operational purposes.

Data retention

We operate no server-side database of personal data. Update-check and website requests leave only transient infrastructure logs held by Cloudflare; activation records (license key, machine allowance) are held by Polar for as long as your license is active.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection (Arts. 15–21 GDPR). To exercise any of these, write to privacy@audiobottle.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in France, the CNIL (cnil.fr).

Changes to this policy

Any change to this policy is published on this page with an updated effective date. Substantive changes to what the app transmits will always be reflected here before they ship.
